MONROVIA – In a powerful message delivered during the induction ceremony of newly elected leaders of the Reformers National Congress (RNC) on Friday, renowned human rights lawyer and politician, Cllr. Tiawan Saye Gongloe, called for selflessness to be the cornerstone of effective leadership.
Gongloe emphasized that true leadership is rooted in service, sacrifice, and a commitment to prioritizing the needs and welfare of citizens above personal gain. “Leadership must not be about luxury and privilege but must focus on the service we provide for our people,” he stated, as he addressed a crowd of party members, supporters, and dignitaries gathered in Tarr Town.
During his keynote address, Gongloe criticized the extravagance often observed among public officials, highlighting the stark contrast between their lavish lifestyles and the daily struggles faced by ordinary Liberians. He pointed out the irony of government officials utilizing expensive vehicles worth millions, while many schools and health facilities remain underfunded and poorly equipped.

“Let us not forget that power is a trust, not a trophy,” Gongloe remarked, urging RNC leaders to consistently evaluate how their decisions impact the communities they represent. He insisted that a leader’s choices should reflect a genuine concern for the well-being of the populace.
The ceremony, themed “Selflessness is the Key to Good Leadership,” called upon the newly inducted leaders to embody these principles in their administrative roles. Gongloe’s passionate address resonated with many in attendance, fostering a renewed sense of purpose among party members committed to serving Liberia with integrity and compassion.
As the RNC embarks on a new chapter under its fresh leadership, Gongloe’s words serve as a clarion call for responsible governance and a reminder that the true measure of leadership lies in the impact made on the lives of everyday citizens.
