Players of the Grand Kru County football team have threatened to boycott their semi-final match against Grand Cape Mount County, scheduled for tomorrow, over unpaid appearance fees.
The players allege that they have not received any allowances since arriving in Monrovia for the quarter-final stage of the competition. It is further claimed that members of the team’s technical staff have also gone unpaid since the start of the tournament.
According to the players, failure by county authorities to settle the outstanding payments by today will leave them with no option but to refuse to honor the semi-final fixture.
As of press time, Grand Kru County authorities had not responded to the allegations.
