MONROVIA โ The House of Representatives is reviewing a bill seeking to establish a new national holiday titled โAll Liberia Presidentsโ Dayโ to honor the collective leadership and legacy of all former Presidents of the Republic of Liberia.
The proposed legislation, submitted by Montserrado County Electoral District #16 Representative Hon. Dixon W. Seboe, is titled โAn Act to Create All Liberia Presidentsโ Day.โ The bill was presented during the Houseโs regular session Thursday, June 5, 2025 for consideration and further legislative action.
In his submission, Hon. Seboe emphasized that Liberia has had 25 presidents, each of whom served during unique historical periods and made various contributions to the nationโs development. Despite this, only two former presidents โ Joseph Jenkins Roberts (March 15) and William V.S. Tubman (November 29) โ are officially honored with national holidays recognizing their birthdays.
ย โConsidering the fact that each president has done something worth commendation, this act seeks to grant a single day to celebrate all our Presidents as a National Holiday โ to reflect on their leadership, challenges, and achievements in shaping Liberiaโs past and present,โ Rep. Seboe asserts.
Following the reading of the bill, a motion was made and passed to forward it to the Committees on Good Governance, Internal Affairs, and Judiciary for proper scrutiny and review. The committees are expected to report back to plenary with recommendations. If passed into law, โAll Liberia Presidentsโ Dayโ will become a new public holiday dedicated to national reflection and the acknowledgment of Liberiaโs leadership journey.
