
MONROVIA – Indian Ambassador accredited to Liberia, Manoj Bihari Verma, paid a courtesy visit Tuesday, June 17 to the Minister of National Defense, Brig Gen (Rtd.) Geraldine Janet George-Johnson.

Both Ambassador Verma, and Minister George-Johnson shared pleasantries as, they recounted the mutually beneficial ties between the Ministry of Defense and the Government and people of India.
In his brief remarks, the Indian Ambassador seized the moment to congratulate the Minister and Defense staff for being recognized by the President of Liberia, Joseph N. Boakai, Sr. as one of the top three best performing government institutions under the 2025 Performance and Service Delivery Contracts while reassuring his government’s unwavering support.

He named capacity building, strengthening military-to-military relations, enhanced healthcare delivery, and engineering as key areas of focus.
Responding, the Minister of National Defense lauded Ambassador Verma for a visit she described as warm and enriching.

Minister Geraldine Janet George-Johnson stressed that India’s support over the years has been strategically aligned to the needs of the Ministry, as she expressed optimism for a continued support that would enable the Ministry become more effective and efficient.
Minister George-Johnson was gifted by Ambassador Verma with a highly decorated Indian Iconic plague at the end of his visit.
