
MONROVIA – The Director General of the Liberia Civil Aviation Authority (LCAA), Mr. Julius D. Dennis Jr. has emphasized the critical need for modern airport infrastructure in Liberia during the opening of a week-long aviation awareness event in Monrovia.
During the Monday, May 5, program, Dennis highlighted that upgrading and investing in airports is vital for attracting international airlines, which in turn enhances the overall passenger experience.
A world-class airport, according to Dennis, not only acts as a gateway to the nation but also leaves a positive and lasting impression on visitors and investors, ultimately benefiting the country’s economy.
Director-General Dennis further emphasizing the importance of modernizing air navigation services to ensure safety and efficiency in air traffic management.

The implementation of advanced radar systems, robust communication networks, and state-of-the-art air traffic control technologies will not only improve safety but also expand the capacity of Liberian airspace, preparing it for the anticipated growth in air traffic.
This modernization effort is crucial for supporting the country’s aviation infrastructure and enhancing overall air travel experience.
“Increased and sustained funding for the aviation sector is therefore paramount in maintaining Liberia’s reputation as a safe and reliable aviation jurisdiction,” he said.
Director Dennis further stated that by investing in regulatory compliance and capacity building, Liberia can ensure that its aviation sector adheres to the highest international standards.
“Furthermore, by strategically investing in its aviation sector, Liberia has the opportunity to regain its position as a leader in West African air transport.”

According to him, the strategic re-positioning can transform the country into a crucial hub for both regional and international flights, driving economic growth and enhancing Liberia’s influence on the continent; saying, as Liberia expands its aviation sector, it is imperative that we prioritize environmental sustainability.
DG Dennis explained that by investing in green technologies and adopting sustainable practices, the LCAA can position Liberia as a leader in environmentally responsible aviation; adding that the approach will not only benefit our environment but also attract eco-conscious travelers and enhance Liberia’s global reputation.
“By providing increased support to the LCAA, the Liberia Airport Authority, and the Accident Investigation Bureau, we can unlock significant economic growth, enhance national security, and position Liberia as a leading force in regional air transport,” he noted.

Making remarks at the start of the International Aviation Week Liberia’s Minister of State Without Portfolio, Ms. Mamaka Bility said that aviation is much more than an industry, it is the bloodstream of the country’s development; stating that it leads people to each other and the global community.
Minister Bility narrated that aviation strengthens the economic by welcoming businesses to the shore; adding that when those businesses come they create fresh opportunities for investment and cultural exchange.
She continued, “It gives Liberian companies access to new markets behind boundaries.”
According to her, reliable aviation also builds confident amongst investors when making decisions on where to invest.
