MONROVIA — Indian-Liberian businessman and humanitarian Upjit Singh Sachdeva, popularly known as “Jeety,” has again demonstrated his longstanding commitment to community support by donating food items and cash to Muslim communities across Liberia during the holy month of Ramadan.
Speaking during a visit to several mosques, Jeety said his gesture was aimed at identifying with Muslims during a spiritually significant period while encouraging prayers for peace and national development.
“This is not my first time. This is the fourth consecutive year I am here,” Jeety told worshippers. “I have come in the last ten days of Ramadan to identify with the Muslim community and to ask you to pray for peace, prosperity, and development of Mama Liberia.”

Food Aid and Cash Support Distributed
As part of the outreach, Jeety donated bags of essential food items including rice, cooking oil, sardines, fish, dates, biscuits, and milk to support Muslim families observing the fast.
In addition, he presented US$20,000 to assist mosque operations and community needs.
“This is a small token from Jeety Rubber and SRC,” he said, emphasizing that the support is intended to ease the burden on families during Ramadan.

Nationwide Outreach Across Counties
Jeety’s Ramadan outreach is not limited to a single community. According to his remarks, he has been traveling extensively to reach multiple mosques across the country.
“Yesterday I visited seven to eight mosques in Montserrado. Today I will visit several in Margibi up to Weala, then continue to Bong County,” he explained.
The initiative reflects a broader effort to ensure that support reaches diverse Muslim communities across Liberia.

Imams Commend Consistency
Religious leaders welcomed the gesture, noting that Jeety’s support has become a consistent feature of Ramadan in Liberia.
“What you are doing is not strange to us. This is your usual way—you have been doing this,” an Imam said during the program, offering prayers for Jeety’s continued success and long life.
The gathering concluded with special prayers (du’a) for national peace, unity, and blessings for Liberia and its people.

A Pattern of Humanitarian Engagement
Jeety, the CEO of Jeety Rubber LLC and Salala Rubber Corporation (SRC), is widely known in Liberia for his philanthropic activities spanning multiple sectors, including:
- Support to religious institutions (churches and mosques)
- Donations to schools and healthcare facilities
- Assistance to vulnerable communities
- Contributions during national emergencies and festive seasons
His Ramadan outreach, in particular, has become an annual initiative aimed at promoting religious harmony and social solidarity.

Message of Peace and Unity
At a time when Liberia continues to focus on national development and stability, Jeety used the occasion to emphasize the importance of peace as a foundation for progress.
“Once there is peace, everybody will be happy,” he said, urging Muslims to include Liberia in their prayers during the sacred period.
The gesture has been widely praised by community members as a reflection of Liberia’s tradition of interfaith cooperation and mutual support, especially during important religious observances.
