The Founder and Executive Director of Youth Arise 4 Development (YA4D), has been awarded the distinguished ICFP International Early Career Award 2025, solidifying his role as one of Africa’s most influential emerging voices in global health and development.
The award was conferred by the International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP) Secretariat, following a highly competitive global selection process.
This year, more than 400 early-career researchers from around the world applied, and Jutomue’s submission ranked among the top-tier candidates internationally.
Jutomue Doetein has built a formidable reputation advocating for women’s and girls’ sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), the empowerment of youth and vulnerable communities, the fight against gender-based violence, peacebuilding, and inclusive access to health information and services.
Through Youth Arise 4 Development, he has championed innovative community-led initiatives that amplify the voices of adolescents and young people in policymaking spaces.
This recognition adds to a growing list of international accolades acknowledging his outstanding leadership.
In 2022, he received the International Youth Trailblazer Award for his contribution to global development and progress within the SRHR field.
In 2024, he was named a Mandela Washington Fellow, one of the United States Government’s most prestigious awards for young African leaders driving transformational change.
With this latest honor, Jutomue will travel to Bogotá, Colombia, in November 2025 to join global leaders, policymakers, and experts at the International Conference on Family Planning, one of the world’s most influential platforms for reproductive health advancement.
He is expected to deliver multiple presentations, engage in high-level dialogues, and forge new international partnerships aimed at accelerating access to health resources for underserved populations in Liberia and beyond.
“This award is a reminder that the voices of young people, especially those from communities like ours matter on the world stage,” Jutomue remarked.
“I am deeply honored to represent Liberia and continue advocating for a future where every young person has equal opportunity, dignity, and the power to choose. “Youth Arise 4 Development extends heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Doetein for this historic achievement and looks forward to supporting his continued impact across Africa and the international development landscape.
