MONROVIA – Several members of the House of Representatives have been summoned to appear at the Liberia National Police (LNP) headquarters on Friday, June 7, 2025, in connection with the ongoing investigation into the recent arson attack on the Capitol Building.
Those summoned include Representatives Jonathan Fonati Koffa, Precilia Cooper, Dixon Seboe, Marvin Cole, Jacob Debee, Frank Saah Foko, and Abu Kamara. The lawmakers are being treated as “persons of interest” in the case, according to police authorities.

The development was made public during Thursday’s regular session of the House of Representatives, following the reading of a formal communication from Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman. The letter was read by Chief Clerk Mildred Siryon, sparking murmurs across the legislative chamber.
While details surrounding the alleged involvement of the lawmakers remain unclear, the summons marks a significant turn in the investigation into the fire that severely damaged parts of the Capitol Building in December 2024. Authorities have so far released little information regarding potential suspects or motives, but the inclusion of sitting lawmakers as persons of interest signals the seriousness of the probe.

The Liberia National Police has not yet commented on the nature of the meeting or what specific information is being sought from the legislators. The arson attack has drawn widespread condemnation and heightened calls for accountability and transparency from civil society groups and the general public. Friday’s meeting is expected to shed more light on the police’s direction in what is becoming one of the most politically sensitive investigations in recent years.
