Kinshasa, DR Congo – On the sidelines of the 47th Confederation of African Football (CAF) General Assembly, CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe on Saturday held a special zonal meeting with leaders and members of the West African Football Union (WAFU A) in Kinshasa.
Representing WAFU A President Lamin Kaba Bajo, WAFU A Vice President and Liberia Football Association President Mustapha I. Raji praised Dr. Motsepe for the progress made under his leadership, particularly through CAF’s growing investment in the Zones.

“We extend our thanks and appreciation to you for your stewardship and the introduction of many benefits to African football, as evidenced by the CAF Impact Program,” Raji said. “Through the initiative headed by the General Secretary Veron, Sarah, and the entire CAF team, CAF is not just engaging with Member Associations but keeping everything alive. We believe African football is getting better under your leadership. We want to assure you of our commitment towards developing football in our various Member Associations.”
In response, Dr. Motsepe commended WAFU A for its work and stressed the need for African football to flourish at the national level. He highlighted CAF’s vision of making football in each of its 54 Member Associations self-supporting, exciting, and capable of drawing fans in large numbers. He also underlined the importance of ensuring that national teams are able to host their matches at home, a key step in boosting domestic football development.

The 47th Ordinary General Assembly of CAF is scheduled to take place in Kinshasa on Monday, October 6, gathering the presidents of all 54 Member Associations alongside representatives of CAF’s six Zonal Unions. The assembly is expected to deliberate on key issues shaping the future of African football.
