Liberia Female Lonestar secured a 1-1 draw against Mauritania, which is the host nation for the WAFU tournament

The Liberia Senior Womenโ€™s National Team secured a 1-1 draw against host nation Mauritania in their second group stage match of the WAFU A Womenโ€™s Tournament on Saturday, May 24, 2025.

Liberia had taken the lead in the second half through Miatta Morris, who scored shortly after missing a penalty. However, Mauritania equalized in the dying minutes of the game from a converted penalty.

Despite dominating much of the match and creating numerous chances, Liberia was unable to secure a decisive victory. Determine Girls FC midfielder Louise Brown was recognized as the Woman of the Match for her outstanding performance.

Following their opening 3-1 win against Guinea Bissau and the draw with Mauritania, the Lonestar Women are currently second in Group A with 4 points, trailing leaders Mali, who have 6 points. Mauritania sits with 1 point.

Liberia will face Mali in their final group stage match, a critical encounter that will determine their qualification for the next round. A draw in this match will be sufficient for Liberia to advance.
