Liberia's Ambassador to Monaco, H.E. Teeko Yorlay, presents his Letters of Credentials to Prince Albert of Monaco

MONACO — Liberia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Principality of Monaco, Teeko Tozay Yorlay, has formally presented his Letters of Credence to Albert II, marking a renewed commitment to strengthen diplomatic ties and expand cooperation between Liberia and the European principality.

The credential ceremony, held Tuesday in Monaco, officially accredited Ambassador Yorlay as Liberia’s representative to the Principality and provided an opportunity for both sides to reaffirm their interest in deepening bilateral relations.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Yorlay conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from Joseph Nyuma Boakai, as well as from the Government and people of Liberia. He emphasized Liberia’s appreciation for Monaco’s global leadership in environmental protection, humanitarian initiatives, sustainable development, and multilateral diplomacy.

The Liberian envoy commended Monaco’s expanding role on the international stage, including its leadership priorities for 2026 and its presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. He also praised the principality’s efforts to promote children’s rights, combat violence against women, and tackle organized crime.

Ambassador Yorlay highlighted Monaco’s reputation as a global leader in ocean governance and environmental innovation, citing initiatives such as the Blue Economy and Finance Forum, support for the High Seas biodiversity agreement, and collaboration through the Space4Ocean Alliance.

He noted that Liberia’s national development framework—the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development—aligns closely with Monaco’s priorities in sustainability, innovation, and responsible investment. The agenda focuses on key sectors including Agriculture, Roads, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation, and Tourism, which the ambassador said present strong opportunities for bilateral collaboration.

According to Ambassador Yorlay, Liberia is eager to attract partnerships and investment from Monaco’s private sector and philanthropic institutions.

He encouraged Monegasque investors, companies, and foundations to explore opportunities in Liberia in sectors such as sustainable agriculture, eco-tourism, renewable energy, maritime services, fisheries, infrastructure, and logistics.

The ambassador also underscored the importance of education and human capital development as pillars of Liberia’s long-term growth strategy. In that regard, he expressed Liberia’s interest in building stronger cooperation with institutions in Monaco in areas including marine science, environmental management, hospitality, and public administration.

Ambassador Yorlay further conveyed President Boakai’s invitation for Prince Albert II to visit Liberia as part of efforts to strengthen ties between the two countries.

Prince Albert welcomed the invitation and indicated he would be pleased to consider a visit to Liberia in the near future, potentially for a short official trip.

The meeting underscored both countries’ interest in expanding diplomatic engagement and exploring new partnerships, particularly in areas related to environmental sustainability, maritime cooperation, and economic development.

Liberia established diplomatic relations with Monaco as part of its broader strategy to deepen engagement with European partners and attract international investment to support national development.
