
The Permanent Representative of China Amb. Fu Cong welcomed his Liberian counterpart and delegation to the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nation and used the occasion to extend warm felicitations on behalf of his leader H. E. XI Jinping and the Minister of Foreign Affairs to the President of the Republic of Liberia Joseph N. Boakai and the Minister of Foreign Affairs. During the warm exchange, Amb. Cong informed his Liberian counterpart of China’s “One Policy” agenda and the Human Rights issues at the UN as Liberia seeks a Non-permanent seat on the UNSC. The Chinese PR further stated that some countries are trying to raise an irrelevant argument on the One China Policy to embolden Taiwan. Amb. Fu Cong thank Amb. Brown for Liberia’s vote supporting China on the Human Rights issue at the UN. He intimated that China will be looking forward to solicit Liberia’s support on the Human Rights issue once again as it is increasingly critical to their interest. He informed Amb. Brown that China will be holding an Annual event in China sometime next year to train diplomats on the procedures and principles of the UNSC and as such, he said that Liberia could take advantage of the opportunity to participate in the event. Amb. Cong assured Amb. Brown of China’s support for Liberia’s candidature as Non-permanent on the UNSC.
In response to his Chinese counterpart, Amb. Brown thanked Amb. Fu Cong for the warm reception extended to he and his delegation to the Permanent Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the United Nations; and expressed warm felicitation on behalf of Pres. Joseph N. Boakai and the Minister of Foreign Affairs to Pres. XI and the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Liberia’s Permanent Representative, Amb. Brown affirmed and reaffirmed Liberia’s support on the One China Policy and stated that Liberia will not waiver on the issue. He informed Amb. Cong that Liberia is prepared to once again support China on the Human Rights issue during the election. Amb. Brown extended an invite to his Chinese counterpart on the ceremony to climax Liberia’s campaign for its candidature as Non-permanent member on the UNSC, scheduled for 05/27/2025, at the UN HQ, in NY. He concluded by presenting a gift to Amb. Fu Cong saying that Liberia values China as a traditional partner.
