MONROVIA – The Liberian National Bar Association (LNBA) has officially announced the dates and location for its highly anticipated 2025 Annual Convention, which will take place from December 4 to 7, 2025, at the Wuo Garbe Tarppia Intellectual Hall in Peace Empire Hotel, Ganta City, Nimba County.

This year’s convention will be marked by an emphasis on the theme: “STRENGTHENING THE RULE OF LAW: THE LAWYER’S ROLE IN RESTORING PUBLIC TRUST.” The event will officially kick off on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., with LNBA National President, Cllr. Bornor M. Varmah, leading the proceedings aimed at convening legal professionals to discuss essential issues surrounding justice delivery and public confidence in the legal system.

According to the LNBA National President Cllr.Bornor Varmah A focal point of this year’s convention will be the acknowledgment of high-performing judges for their efforts in enhancing public trust through effective case management throughout 2025.

The occasion will honor those judges who have remarkably disposed of a significant number of cases during the year.

Notably, Cllr. Mark M. Marvay, Managing Partner at Beyond Law Chambers and former member of the National Executive Council of the LNBA, has been invited as the keynote speaker for the event.

 His insights are expected to provide valuable perspectives on the role of legal practitioners in fostering community trust in the judiciary.

In addition to formal discussions, the convention will feature social events aimed at strengthening unity among members of the legal community.

As part of continuing professional development, a mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) program will be offered, allowing counselors and attorneys-at-law to earn ten (10) CLE credit hours required for the 2025 professional year.

He said This year’s CLE sessions will cover two significant topics Introduction to the Value-Added Tax Law of 2024, which will replace the Goods and Services Tax (GST) along with the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) Regulation No. 136 and accompanying rules.

Procedures for Implementation of the Value-Added Tax Law of 2024; including amendments to Chapter 10 of the Revenue Code, 2000, governing the transition from GST to VAT. These critical presentations will be facilitated by the legal team from the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA).

Furthermore, additional sessions will include a review of the Rules of Court based on recommendations from a committee established by the Honorable Supreme Court.

Exciting activities are planned throughout the convention, including a parade and sports events on Saturday, December 6, to encourage camaraderie and fellowship among attendees.

The LNBA also announced the completion of the ground floor of its National Headquarters project along the Robert International Airport highway. A comprehensive report on the status of this project will be presented during the convention.

This annual gathering is regarded as the highest organ of the Bar and serves as a platform for meaningful discussions that positively impact the rule of law in Liberia.
