
MONROVIA, Liberia — The Liberia National Police (LNP) has announced a series of disciplinary actions taken between October 9 and November 20, 2025, based on investigations conducted by its Professional Standards Department (PSD) and approved by the Inspector General.
These actions—including dismissals, suspensions, reinstatements, and exonerations—target officers found to have violated ethics, duty standards, and internal regulations, while also recognizing officers who complied with corrective directives.
The measures reaffirm the LNP’s commitment to accountability, transparency, professionalism, and the rule of law.
DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS
October 9, 2025

- Patrolmen Vaagbason Vaagbay (ID 7001), Aloysius S. Sandolo (ID 6681), and Adolphus Q. Kwanue (ID 6736)
Initially suspended for one month with salary deductions for engaging in unauthorized, “self-styled” police operations near the Police Academy Junction in Paynesville.
Following further review, all three officers were disrobed under Section 32.91 of the Police Act of 2015 for acts of corruption involving extortion. - Patrolman Wilson Z. Wondeh (ID 1209)
His suspension was increased from one to two months with salary deduction after investigators confirmed he solicited a bribe from a female driver at the Vamoma checkpoint.
November 3, 2025
- Patrolman Ephraim M. Nah (ID 5990)
Suspended for three months without pay for unwarranted use of force against Patrolman Alfred Gomah, causing injury, and for neglect of duty and unsatisfactory conduct. - Patrolman Alfred P. Gomah (ID 5486)
Exonerated. The investigation established that he did not initiate the altercation and acted appropriately in discouraging unprofessional behavior. - Patrolman Ralph N. Gaye
Suspended for one month with salary deduction for failing to intervene in the altercation and for circulating a video of the incident on social media.

November 7, 2025
- Patrolman Gerald Watson (ERU)
Dismissed from the Emergency Response Unit after accumulating 117 days of absence without official leave (AWOL), which significantly disrupted ERU operations.
November 18, 2025
- Chief Inspector of Police Jimmy T. Kaydor (LNP 2684), Maryland County.
Suspended for one month without pay for unsatisfactory conduct, including the unauthorized release of a confidential photograph of victim Mamie Williams to a civilian, Fred Jappah, and ordering Jappah’s release from detention without approval.
During his suspension, CIP Kaydor complied fully with PSD directives—re-arresting suspect Jappah and turning him over to the Women and Children Protection Section (WACPS) in Pleebo.
Based on his compliance, the PSD recommended his reinstatement. - Sergeant Markardor Tuor (LNP 0917)
Suspended for two months with salary deduction for corruption, after being filmed accepting money from a taxi driver in Jallah Town.
November 20, 2025
- Patrolman Vanka K. McCarthy (ID 0033)
Suspended for two months without pay for abuse of authority and unsatisfactory conduct. Investigations confirmed he:- Compromised an accident case in Sinkor by releasing vehicles without proper investigation
- Illegally disconnected Mr. Christian Gaye’s LEC meter and placed his home on direct current
- Refused to vacate a rented room after his paid-term expired
In addition, McCarthy was ordered to make the following restitutions:
- L$6,750 + US$10 for medical expenses incurred by Madam Phedra Amoako
- US$60 for her damaged Itel A60 cellphone
LNP Reaffirms Commitment to Professional Policing
The Liberia National Police emphasizes that all officers are expected to uphold the highest standards of conduct as outlined in the LNP Duty Manual, Administrative Instructions, and the LNP Act of 2015.
Officers who violate these standards will face appropriate administrative action, while those who comply with corrective directives will be treated fairly and transparently.
