Lofa County District #3 Representative Momo Siafa Kpoto (right) has angered the other party in the Federation of Lofa Associations in the Americas elections

MONROVIA- Lofa County Electoral District #3’s Representative, Mr. Momo Siafa Kpoto, who is presently visiting the United States of America, has probably angered one of the sides in the race for the highest seat in the Federation of Lofa Associations in the Americas (FLAA).

Rep. Kpoto is said to have openly declared his support for the candidate from the Lofa Association of North Dakota Chapter, Mr. James Saywala Kennedy, who is vying for President of the Lofa Federation.

While the Elections Commission of the diaspora Lofa election is yet to certify candidates, it is, however, known that there are two teams now which have declared their desire for the coveted seat among Lofa diasporans. The other team that has expressed interest for the post, too, is the Lofa Association of Minnesota. This team might be led by Ms. Minerva Grant, who is referred to among members of the Union of Liberian Associations in the Americas (ULAA), “Iron Lady.”

Ms. Grant could not be reached for comments on how she feels about Rep. Kpoto’s open endorsement for her rival should the Elections Commission certifies her team. However, a prominent Lofaian, who resides in North Dakota, who asked not to be named, thinks that it was wrong for the Lofa County Representative to have openly endorsed one person/team in the race.

“All the senior officials, including the lawmakers of Lofa County, are twins mothers. They should not lay down one side. We all know that each of them will have a side, but they shouldn’t declare it openly. In case the side he supports doesn’t win and the other side wins, will he have a face to work with that team?”

Because of his open endorsement, aspirant Kennedy now has flier on social media of them.

Another Lofaian in North Dakota told this news outlet that it is not too late for Rep. Kpoto to make things right. “He and other members of the Lofa Legislative Caucus can issue a joint statement of support for all the candidates that will be certified by the Elections Commission. So that anyone or team who wins, it will be easy for them to work together without bad blood. My brother, let me tell you, there are no small election.”
