MONROVIA – In a shocking turn of events, at least 500 women have vowed to protest at the Ministry of Youth and Sports on Monday, following disturbing allegations of rape against Deputy Minister for Youth Development, Bryant McGill.
The accusations involve a 14-year-old girl and have sparked outrage within civil society and among women’s rights organizations.
Demonstrators have announced plans to express their anger and demand justice in a striking manner, with some stating, “We will butt naked ourselves” to highlight the gravity of the situation and draw attention to the plight of victims of sexual violence.
The protest aims not only to call for accountability in the case against McGill but also to demand a broader societal change regarding how sexual assault claims are addressed by authorities.
Civil society organizations have given the government a 24-hour ultimatum to respond to the allegations and take meaningful action.
Activists are urging the government to prioritize the safety and rights of young girls against such heinous acts.
As the situation develops, all eyes will be on the Ministry of Youth and Sports to see how they will respond to the people’s demands and whether there will be any immediate action taken regarding the allegations against Deputy Minister McGill.
