DELHI/MONROVIA — India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation with Masoud Pezeshkian, during which the two leaders discussed the evolving security situation in the Middle East and the need for diplomatic engagement to ease regional tensions.

According to a press release issued by the Embassy of India in Monrovia, President Pezeshkian briefed Prime Minister Modi on the current situation in Iran and shared his perspective on recent developments across the region.

During the conversation, Prime Minister Modi expressed deep concern about the unfolding security challenges and emphasized India’s long-standing position that disputes and tensions must be addressed through dialogue and diplomacy rather than confrontation.

The Indian leader also underscored the importance of safeguarding Indian citizens currently residing or working in the region.

According to the statement, Modi highlighted that the safety and well-being of Indian nationals in Iran and neighboring countries remain a priority for the Government of India, particularly amid rising geopolitical tensions.

In addition, the Prime Minister stressed the significance of maintaining the uninterrupted movement of energy supplies and commercial goods through the region, a key factor for global economic stability.

India, one of the world’s largest energy consumers, relies heavily on international energy routes and maritime trade corridors that pass through the Middle East.

The leaders also exchanged views on broader regional developments and agreed to remain in close contact as the situation evolves.

The conversation reflects ongoing diplomatic efforts among global leaders to address growing concerns over security and stability in the Middle East.
