MONROVIA – As more commendations come in for the Director-General of the National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP), Dewitt vonBallmoos’ election as Chairman of the of the Technical Commission on Contribution Collection and Compliance of the International Social Security Association (ISSA) continues to pour in, the civil society and pro-democracy group, Movement for the Promotion of Non-Violence Elections in Liberia (MOPNEL) has applauded Mr. vonBallmoos for his international achievement.

MOPNEL through a statement issued and signed by its Secretary General Victor Diamond Walker, on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, congratulated Mr. vonBallmoos for his preferment as Chairman of ISSA’s Technical Commission on Contribution Collection and Compliance.

The group said Mr. vonBallmoos’ vast experience in leadership, management and social protection as well as his innovative character will be cardinal in his new international portfolio, which will make NASSCORP’s internationally visible and at the same time provides an opportunity to bring African and post-conflict perspectives into global policy discussions on social security reform.

MOPNEL acknowledges that vonBallmoos’ election marks a global vote of confidence in Liberia’s social protection system, placing the country in a leading role in shaping international standards on social security compliance, coverage, and governance.

YOPA Hails vonBallmoos’ ISSA Election as Commission Chair

Meanwhile, a youth advocacy group, Youth for Progress and Action (YOPA), based in the City of Brewerville in Montserrado County has welcome and hailed Mr. vonBallmoos’ election as chairman of the of the Technical Commission on Contribution Collection and Compliance of the International Social Security Association (ISSA).

YOPA, said Mr. vonBallmoos was elected to the ISSA position due to his international footprint which is as compelling as his national impact. The group adds, “As Vice Chairperson of the ISSA Technical Commission on ICT in 2017, and now Chair of the Technical Commission on Investment of Social Security Funds, he took Liberia’s voice to global platforms.”

YOPA went on to say that vonBallmoos pushed for the adoption of smart technologies and sound investment practices across member states and his work on the Technical Bureau of ISSA is a continuation of his belief that good governance, transparency, and innovation must be the bedrock of all social protection systems—everywhere.

Concluding, YOPA intones that behind the titles and statistics, is a man deeply committed to his country and its people. “Mr. vonBallmoos’ leadership is marked not just by systems built and policies passed, but by the everyday reality that NASSCORP now works for the people it serves. He is accessible, principled, and focused. He listens, recalibrates, and acts. He is not a leader of show, but of substance.”
