MONROVIA – In a proactive move toward ensuring a transparent and credible electoral process, the National Elections Commission (NEC) has commenced early preparations for boundary delimitation ahead of the 2029 General Elections. The initiative, announced on NEC’s official Facebook page, underscores the Commission’s commitment to fairness, inclusivity, and electoral integrity.
As part of these efforts, NEC concluded a three-day Boundary Delimitation Workshop in Monrovia, designed to lay the groundwork for the upcoming delimitation exercise. The workshop, which concluded on Friday, September 19, 2025, brought together key stakeholders from across the country.

Speaking on behalf of the Board of Commissioners, Commissioner Cllr. Ernestine Morgan Awar highlighted the importance of boundary delimitation in shaping Liberia’s democratic landscape. “Boundary delimitation is not just a technical exercise; it is a foundation for free, fair, and credible elections. The outcomes will guide NEC’s decisions and ensure that all Liberians are represented equitably,” Cllr. Awar said.
She further emphasized the need for the active engagement of all stakeholders, including the National Legislature, civil society, political parties, media, development partners, and persons with disabilities, in the process.

The workshop was organized under the UNDP Liberia Electoral Support Project (LESP), co-funded by the European Union, Irish Aid, and the Embassy of Sweden in Monrovia. LESP is designed to strengthen national institutions and support democratic processes that promote inclusive and accountable governance.
The project is managed by UNDP Liberia in collaboration with UN Women and the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD), with support from a range of international partners.
NEC’s early preparations for boundary delimitation signal a proactive approach to safeguarding Liberia’s electoral process, ensuring that the 2029 elections are conducted with credibility, transparency, and broad-based stakeholder participation.
