MONROVIA — President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has made a new set of appointments affecting key government institutions as part of efforts to strengthen public administration and improve coordination within government.
According to a statement issued by the Office of the Presidential Press Secretary, the appointments affect the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs and the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority.
Among the appointments, Liberian musician Korte Dorbor Bazzie, popularly known as Kobazzie, has been named Entertainment Ambassador of Liberia.
Key Government Appointments
The Executive Mansion announced the following appointments:
- James K. Yolei — Assistant Minister for Operations at the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs. Yolei previously served as Assistant Minister at the Ministry of Internal Affairs (Liberia).
- Korte Dorbor Bazzie (Kobazzie) — Entertainment Ambassador.
- Madia Henrietta Peters Magbollah — Deputy Director for Administration at the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA).
The presidency noted that the appointments, where required by law, will be subject to confirmation by the Liberian Senate.
President Boakai has urged the newly appointed officials to demonstrate diligence, professionalism, and integrity in the discharge of their duties.
“The President has called on the appointed officials to demonstrate diligence, professionalism, and integrity in the discharge of their respective responsibilities in service to the Liberian people,” the statement said.
Background on Kobazzie
Kobazzie is one of Liberia’s most recognizable contemporary musicians and performers. Known for his energetic stage presence and hit songs blending Afrobeat, hip-hop, and Liberian colloquial influences, he has built a large following among young audiences across Liberia and the diaspora.
Over the years, Kobazzie has become a prominent figure in Liberia’s entertainment industry, performing at major national events, concerts, and cultural festivals.
His music often celebrates Liberian culture and urban life, helping to popularize Liberian music both locally and internationally.
Industry observers say his appointment as Entertainment Ambassador could strengthen government engagement with the country’s creative sector, which has been increasingly recognized as a potential driver of youth employment and cultural diplomacy.
Strengthening Public Administration
The Executive Mansion indicated that the appointments form part of ongoing efforts by the Boakai administration to reinforce government institutions and improve service delivery.
The Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs plays a central role in coordinating executive functions and supporting the President’s administrative operations.
Meanwhile, the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority is responsible for managing Liberia’s marine resources and promoting sustainable fisheries development.
Officials say the latest appointments reflect the government’s broader strategy to enhance institutional capacity while also recognizing the role of culture and the creative industry in national development.
