MONROVIA – President Joseph Boakai has restated his administration’s commitment to reshaping Liberia’s image on the international stage, emphasizing the critical role of robust government communication institutions in achieving this goal.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) headquarters in Paynesville on Tuesday, President Boakai underscored the importance of empowering the media as a means of bringing government closer to the people.

He praised the LBS management and staff for their unwavering dedication and service to the nation.

The President reaffirmed his government’s intention to transform LBS into a fully functional public broadcaster.

He said this transition will provide citizens with a clearer understanding of government operations and enhance transparency, enabling the public to assess both the achievements and shortcomings of state institutions.

Highlighting the broader vision for media reform, President Boakai pledged continued support for the effective and efficient operation of the national broadcaster.

In his remarks, the Liberian leader also extended appreciation to the Government of China for its longstanding partnership with Liberia.

He acknowledged China’s contributions to the country’s development, particularly in the areas of infrastructure and human capacity building.

President Boakai’s visit to LBS marks a renewed effort by his administration to invest in national media as a tool for accountability, development, and national unity.
