President Boakai at the ceremony marking ECOWAS' 50th anniversary in Accra, Ghana

Accra, Ghana – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on the occasion of its 50th anniversary.

The President is currently in Accra, Ghana, participating in the official launch of the ECOWAS Golden Jubilee celebrations at the Accra International Conference Centre . 

He lauded ECOWAS as a beacon of regional integration, peace, and economic cooperation, emphasizing Liberia’s unwavering commitment to the principles and objectives of the regional bloc.

The Liberian Leader highlighted the nation’s dedication to fostering unity and collaboration among member states. 

“ECOWAS has been instrumental in promoting stability and development across West Africa,” President Boakai stated, assuring, “Liberia remains steadfast in its support for the Organization’s mission and will continue to work collaboratively with fellow member states to address our shared challenges and aspirations.”

The Golden Jubilee celebrations serve as a platform for member states to reflect on the achievements of the past five decades and to strategize on future initiatives aimed at enhancing regional integration and prosperity . 

Three presidents share some fond memories

President Boakai is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Foreign Minister Sarah Beysolow-Nyanti, Minister of State Without Portfolio Mamaka Bility, National Security Advisor Samuel Kofi Woods, Economic Adviser Morley Kamara, and Deputy Finance Minister for Fiscal Affairs Anthony Myers . 

The President is scheduled to return to Monrovia later today Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
