MASSATINE, GRAND CAPE MOUNT – In a heartfelt gesture of solidarity and compassion, the Red Cross Office in Grand Cape Mount County has extended support to communities in need ahead of Liberia’s Independence Day celebrations.
On Tuesday, the Red Cross delivered food and non-food items to residents of Massatine in Gola Konneh District, bringing not just materials, but also a message of hope, dignity, and unity.
Speaking during the donation ceremony, the Field Officer of the Red Cross Kama Kamara expressed the Red Cross’ commitment to humanitarian values.

“As we approach Liberia’s Independence Day, we are reminded that true freedom and celebration come when we care for one another, especially those who face challenges like you, our brothers and sisters living with such condition. Today, we bring these items not as gifts, but as a message of hope, dignity, and solidarity. You are not forgotten. You are part of our family, and your strength inspires us all.”
This intervention was made possible through the support of the County Development Fund allotted to the Red Cross to strengthen its local humanitarian actions in Grand Cape Mount County.
The Red Cross Field officer highlighted the importance of partnerships, emphasizing that humanitarian efforts are stronger and more impactful when communities, government, and organizations work hand in hand.
The town Chief of Massatine Andrew Youngar expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support from Red Cross.

“We are deeply thankful to the Red Cross for remembering us during this time of celebration. These items will make a big difference for our families. Your visit has given us hope and reminded us that we are not alone,” said Younger.
The Red Cross office in Grand Cape Mount reaffirmed its readiness to serve humanity at all times, but called for continued collaboration and partnership:
“The Red Cross is prepared and willing to serve humanity at all times, but we cannot do it alone. With partnerships like this, we can bring life-changing support to communities that need it most,” the Head of Governance Angeline Appleton said. As Liberia celebrates its independence, the Red Cross calls on all Liberians to embrace compassion, unity, and mutual support, noting that the nation’s true strength lies in caring for one another.
