Montserrado County District Electoral#17 Representative, Hon. Bernard Blue Benson Jr and President Joseph Nyuma Boakai

District #17 – Montserrado County District Electoral#17 Representative, Hon. Bernard Blue Benson Jr., has lauded the appointment of the Director General and Deputy Director General of Liberia National Tourism Authority (LNTA), following the passage of the Liberia National Tourism Authority Act of 2024.

Benson described the appointments as a strong signal that the government is serious about transforming tourism into a vital pillar of Liberia’s economy. He noted that his bill and its passage reflect a commitment to developing a dedicated autonomous agency to manage, regulate, and promote tourism nationwide.

The LNTA replaces the former Departments of Tourism and Cultural Affairs and amends Title 30 of the Liberian Code of Laws Revised, known as the Public Authorities Law. The agency will promote Liberia as a tourist destination, encourage private sector investment, regulate industry standards, and ensure environmentally sustainable and culturally respectful practices.

“The LNTA is a strategic step toward creating jobs, preserving our cultural identity, and contributing to Liberia’s broader national development goals,” Benson said. He reaffirmed his commitment to working with all stakeholders, including LNTA’s new leadership, to help Liberia reach its full potential on the global tourism stage.
