
HARPER CITY, Maryland County – In a vibrant ceremony filled with community spirit, Rep. P. Mike Jurry officially launched the Saving and Internal Lending Club in Harper City, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at uplifting local women and promoting economic empowerment.
The event drew a large crowd of beneficiaries who took to the principal street in a celebratory parade, showcasing their enthusiasm for the new program.
Women from various groups expressed their appreciation for Rep. Jurry’s efforts, emphasizing the importance of this initiative for all Liberians. “What the Maryland County lawmaker is doing is something that needs to be celebrated by everyone,” remarked one attendee.

This program offers grants rather than loans, aiming to provide financial support that will empower women to create their own businesses and become better citizens of Liberia.
According to the organizers, funds will be allocated to each group, with an agreement to pay back interest to the club while sharing the principal amount among members.
“The things Representative Jurry is doing for us are not easy,” said another participant. “We are not only here to launch this project but to honor him for the many contributions he continues to make for the people of this District.”

The colorful event included a traditional ceremony performed by residents of Maryland County Electoral District #1, adding a festive touch to the proceedings.
The County Superintendent praised Rep. Jurry, noting the significance of his commitment to giving back to his constituents.
The House Committee on Ways, Means, and Finance emphasized the importance of women’s participation in such initiatives and commended the community for coming together to celebrate this process.
In addition to the lending club launch, Rep. Jurry made significant contributions to local law enforcement and communication.

He presented two motorcycles to the Maryland County Police Detachment to aid in their operations, enhancing safety and peace in the community.
Furthermore, he donated a motorcycle to another local group and inaugurated a new radio station aimed at reaching audiences across the county.
To further promote education and connectivity, Rep. Jurry also provided an internet package to the Intellectual Center, ensuring residents have access to vital online resources.
