
Lower Women League side Republic Football Club have been knocked out of the 2026 LFA Orange Cup following a dramatic penalty shootout defeat to Upper Women League club Kneeling Warrior on Thursday at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex Practice Pitch.
The match produced an exciting contest as both teams delivered an attacking display that ended in a thrilling 3–3 draw at the end of regulation time. Republic FC showed determination and resilience against the higher-division side, matching Kneeling Warrior goal for goal throughout the encounter.
With neither side able to secure the winner during normal play, the match was decided by a penalty shootout. Kneeling Warrior kept their composure from the spot to narrowly defeat Republic FC 7–6 on penalties, sealing their place in the next round of the competition.
Despite the painful exit, Republic FC’s strong performance against a top-tier opponent highlighted the team fighting spirit and growing potential as they continue their campaign in the Lower Women League.
Kneeling Warrior, meanwhile, advance in the 2026 LFA Orange Cup as they continue their quest for success in the national knockout tournament.
