MONROVIA – The Restoring Hope Foundation International, under the leadership of Ambassador Maxson Kpakio, has made significant strides in raising awareness about the dangers of shisha use in Liberia. Following the submission of their petition calling for a ban on shisha, the foundation has actively engaged in community outreach efforts, particularly in Foya, Lofa County, where they have focused on educating the public about the health risks associated with shisha consumption.

Ambassador Kpakio’s visit to Foya was a pivotal moment in the campaign, as it allowed him to directly interact with community members, share information about the toxic chemical compositions of shisha, and highlight the severe neurological damage and psychotic episodes that can result from its use. The foundation has emphasized the urgent need for government intervention, given the overwhelming number of individuals seeking help at rehabilitation centers and the struggles families face with addiction.
The campaign has included workshops, informational sessions, and collaboration with local leaders to foster a community-wide understanding of the issue.

The foundation is also advocating for policy changes that would support the banning of shisha and provide resources for addiction treatment and prevention.
As the campaign progresses, the Restoring Hope Foundation International calls on the government and other stakeholders to take decisive action to protect public health and promote a drug-free environment.
