MONROVIA – In a momentous gathering of faith leaders, Rev. Dr. Samuel Reeves has been re-elected as the President of the Liberia Council of Churches (LCC) during the Council’s 36th General Assembly held this past weekend.

Dr. Reeves, who also serves as the President of Grand Bassa University, aims to steer the LCC towards a renewed commitment to justice, integrity, and respect for human dignity across Liberia.

The Liberia Council of Churches, founded in 1982, has played a pivotal role in uniting diverse Christian denominations including mainline churches and Pentecostal organizations, serving as a critical platform for advocacy and social action.

As a member of the World Council of Churches, the LCC is dedicated to fostering partnerships at both national and international levels, promoting dialogue, and addressing pressing social issues.

During the assembly, Dr. Reeves was acknowledged for his significant contributions to national reconciliation efforts and his support of marginalized communities within Liberian society.

His leadership is seen as essential in the ongoing pursuit of social justice and peace in a country that has faced decades of turmoil.

Dr. Reeves, a respected figure in both the academic and religious arenas, expressed his gratitude for the continued trust placed in him by the Council.

“It is an honor to serve as President of the Liberia Council of Churches once again. Together, we will amplify our voices for justice, advocate for gender equity, and uphold the principles of peaceful governance while nurturing the unity of Christian churches throughout Liberia,” he stated.

As the LCC moves forward under Dr. Reeves’ leadership, the organization aims to strengthen its efforts in promoting moral values, enhancing community services, and providing a platform for national dialogue. With Dr. Reeves at the helm, the Council is poised to continue its crucial role in shaping a more equitable and harmonious society for all Liberians.

The re-election of Dr. Reeves reflects the confidence of the church community in his vision and commitment to advancing the work of the Council in a country still rebuilding from past conflicts. The LCC remains resolute in its mission to advocate for the voiceless and foster a spirit of cooperation among all faiths for the betterment of Liberia.
