
MONROVIA – The Liberian Senate has officially inducted Samuel Kogar as the new Senator representing Nimba County, following his victory in the recent senatorial by-election
In a significant political event for Nimba County, Kogar has been officially inducted as the new senator, following his victory in the recent by-election.
The swearing-in ceremony took place Thursday, May 15, in the Senate’s chamber, marking a new chapter in the county’s representation.

Kogar secured his seat with a notable 52.08% of the vote, defeating his near rival, Edith Gongloe Weh.
His election comes in the wake of the passing of longtime Senator Prince Y. Johnson, whose remaining term Kogar will now fulfill. The by-election was necessitated by the passing of Senator Prince Y. Johnson, who died at his Paynesville residence on November 28, 2024. Kogar will now serve the remaining seven years of Johnson’s term. Johnson was a prominent and influential political figure in Nimba County.
The induction ceremony was attended by key political figures, local officials, and supporters, all gathered to witness the event that underscores Kogar’s commitment to serving the people of Nimba County.
