MONROVIA – The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Richard Nagbe Koon, has embarked on a unifying initiative aimed at bringing together the various townships within District 11, Montserrado County, through the power of sports.
Speaking to reporters over the weekend, Speaker Koon emphasized that the idea of using sports to unite the communities of District 11 was a vision he held long before ascending to the role of Speaker. He highlighted sports as a vital recreational activity for young people and a powerful tool for fostering peace, interaction, and unity among residents.

According to him, several community leagues are already underway, with additional tournaments set to kick off in key areas such as Caldwell, Barnesville, and Gardnerville. These local events will culminate in a grand district-wide league that will bring together participants from across District 11 in a celebration of community spirit and talent.
In a related development, Mr. Koon revealed that discussions are ongoing with the leadership of Dixville Township regarding the acquisition of a local playing field. His vision is to transform the space into a mini stadium complete with seating capacity and modern bathroom facilities—offering a safe and well-equipped venue for sports and community gatherings.
Through this initiative, Speaker Koon continues to demonstrate his commitment to youth development and social cohesion in District 11.
