
MONROVIA – African Methodist Episcopal University, Cuttington University, Adventist University of West Africa, University of Liberia given 1 year ultimatum or risk closure.
This mandate followed a nationwide assessment of Higher Learning Institutions.
Institutions in Category A are accredited chartered institutions with challenges.
Institutions in both Categories A and B are allowed to operate and will be duly informed of their respective challenges that need improvement, as well as the timeline required to address these challenges.
The NCHE will re-assess these institutions to ensure a satisfactory response to the various concerns raised.
Unsatisfactory responses from the above institutions will lead to their closure and/or suspension of licensures.
The methodology used for the exercise included: a) interview and discussion with management staff of the institution, b) inspection of physical facilities, c) review and verification of related documents, including staff credentials. These methods provided opportunities for the responsible persons at the universities and colleges to provide information on the operations, successes.
