Former senior police officer Monroe Dennis

In a reflective statement, Monroe Dennis, a former dedicated law enforcement professional with the Liberia National Police, shared his insights on the evolving political landscape in Liberia.

As Dennis navigated his journey through various interactions with individuals across the political spectrum, he recalled a profound saying from his youth: “He that controls the stomach, controls the mind.”

With a wealth of experience, Dennis has observed the interplay of trust, loyalty, and political affiliations within his society.

He articulates a stark transformation in the political affiliation of many who once identified staunchly with the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC).

In the past, these individuals would confront public servants, asserting their political prowess and connections. Now, they are seen aligning themselves with the new regime under President Boakai, signifying a significant shift in loyalty.

Dennis highlights the complexities of political behavior, noting the presence of sycophants and opportunists who morph their allegiances as circumstances change.

“The unprecedented shift in ideas and belief systems has revealed deeply rooted challenges within our society, including cowardice and deception,” he states.

Yet, he maintains a commitment to inclusivity, emphasizing the importance of allowing all voices to be heard, no matter how divergent.

His reflections serve as a poignant reminder that history has a way of illuminating the truth, even when it is uncomfortable.

Dennis expresses optimism that those who value integrity will stand by the truth, while others may continue to resist it.

As a personal tribute to this journey, he chose to wear an old t-shirt gifted to him by the Regional Security Office of the US Embassy in Monrovia a symbol of his past experiences and commitment to the principles of good governance and patriotism.

Through his reflections, Dennis encourages a broader understanding of political realities in Liberia, urging citizens to learn from the past for the betterment of future generations.
