
MONROVIA- An All-Party Parliamentary Delegation from India, led by Hon’ble Member of Parliament Dr. Shrikant Eknath Shinde, concluded a successful official visit to the Republic of Liberia from 31 May to 2 June 2025. The visit, taking place in the aftermath of the heinous terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, carried a resolute message of zero tolerance for terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

Liberia was among a select group of countries engaged by India’s multi-party delegations, highlighting its importance as a democratic partner in West Africa and its principled stand against terrorism. The visit sought to strengthen global consensus on the urgent need to isolate and confront terror networks and their sponsors.
In its meeting with H.E. Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., President of Liberia, the delegation conveyed appreciation for his statement of condolence and condemnation addressed to the Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi, following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir on 22 April 2025. They also acknowledged Liberia’s upcoming tenure as a non-permanent member of UNSC for the term 2026-27 and the important role of Liberia from this high platform in advancing the fight against the menace of terrorism. The Liberian leadership reiterated its strong support for India’s principled response through Operation Sindoor and emphasized the importance of unified international efforts to combat terrorism. H.E. Sara Beysolow Nyanti, Minister of Foreign Affairs, was also present during the meeting

The delegation also met with their counterpart Parliamentarians in the Liberian Senate and House of Representatives. In a gesture of solidarity, Hon’ble Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, President Pro-Tempore of the Senate and Hon’ble Richard Nagbe Koon, Speaker of the House of Representatives, led the parliamentarians in observing a moment of silence in memory of the victims of the 22 April 2025 terror attack in Pahalgam.

In a moving gesture, Hon’ble President Pro-Tempore invited Dr. Shrikant Shinde to address the Senate – marking the first time an Indian Parliamentarian has done so. Dr. Shinde spoke about India’s firm stand against cross-border terrorism and underscored the critical need for international solidarity in confronting this global menace.
The delegation also engaged with local think tanks and media representatives, reaffirming that India’s battle against terrorism extends beyond its borders – it is a defense of global peace, human dignity, and the safety of all humanity.

The visit not only reflected the enduring friendship between India and Liberia, but also highlighted the two nations’ shared, unwavering stance against terrorism. It concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to work together in fostering a peaceful, secure, and terror-free world.
