Menklee Cole former president of the now-defunct Mighty Dragon FC

Bong County is set to come alive with football excitement as a passionate sports advocate unveils plans for a grand pre-season tournament ahead of the 2025/2026 Liberia Football Association (LFA) National League.

Menklee Cole, former president of the now-defunct Mighty Dragon FC, is determined to launch the Regional Pre-Season Tournament in Gbarnga City. The competition will feature First, Second, Third, and Women’s Division teams from Nimba, Grand Gedeh, and Bong Counties.

The proposed two-week tournament will be staged at the David Kuyon Sports Stadium in Gbarnga, but Cole says its success hinges on financial and administrative backing from the LFA, along with support from potential sponsors.

Cole believes the event will give clubs a vital competitive edge ahead of the new National League season.

Held under the theme “Football Unites Us”, he is urging teams from all three counties to embrace the opportunity and participate with enthusiasm.

If realized, the tournament could become a major pre-season highlight in Liberia’s football calendar.
