Monrovia — The Office for the Establishment of War and Economic Crimes Court for Liberia (OWECC-L) and the National Muslim Council of Liberia (NMCL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to foster collaboration in the pursuit of justice, accountability, and reconciliation through the establishment of War and Economic Crimes Court (WECC) and the National Anti-Corruption Court (NACC).

The agreement outlines mutual commitments to enhance public awareness, promote human rights, and support inclusive citizen participation in Liberia’s transitional justice process.

Under the MOU, the two institutions will collaborate on public education, advocacy, and awareness initiatives. A joint coordination team will be established, and a strategic framework will be developed to guide joint actions across communities.

This partnership is built on a shared vision of a just and accountable Liberia. Through joint outreach, public education, and grassroots advocacy, OWECC-L and NMCL aim to catalyze national momentum for the establishment of justice institutions that reflect the will and aspirations of the Liberian people.

Dr. Cllr. Jallah A. Barbu, Executive Director of OWECC-L, and Alhaji Abraham Fumbah Sherif, Executive Chairman of NMCL, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions.

OWECC-L is the official institution established by the Government of Liberia to lead the process for the creation and implementation of the WECC and NACC.
