
MONROVIA, Liberia – The Joint Committees on Good Governance, Ways, Means & Finance, and Judiciary of the Honorable House of Representatives have announced a public hearing on a proposed legislative instrument titled โAn Act to Amend and Restate Sections 16, 200, 201, and 205 of the Consolidated Tax Amendment to the Revenue Code of Liberia (2000), as Amended.โ
The proposed legislation seeks to adjust personal income tax thresholds and reform the investment incentive regime of Liberia, with the objective of enhancing fairness in taxation, improving revenue mobilization, and creating a more balanced and transparent investment environment.
The public hearing is scheduled for Friday, January 30, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., and will be held in the First Floor Conference Room of the Capitol Building.
In furtherance of a comprehensive and inclusive legislative review, the Joint Committees have cited several key institutions and stakeholders to provide expert opinions and technical inputs. These include the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP), the Civil Service Agency (CSA), the Press Union of Liberia (PUL), Labor Unions, and other relevant entities.
The House Committees emphasized that the hearing is intended to ensure broad-based stakeholder engagement, strengthen the quality of the legislation, and support its successful conclusion and subsequent passage.
The draft Act was submitted to the House of Representatives by Maryland County, Pleebo Electoral District Representative, Hon. Anthony Williams, who has underscored the need to modernize Liberiaโs tax framework in line with current economic realities.
Members of the public, civil society organizations, and interested stakeholders are encouraged to attend and participate in the public hearing.
