Liberian Student-Athlete Zeta Kromah

Liberian student-athlete Zeta Kromah is continuing to make a strong impact beyond the football field through her growing community initiative, “Tribe Stars in Liberia.”

Kromah, who is currently based in the United States and plays for the William & Mary Tribe women’s soccer team at College of William & Mary, is using her platform to support youth development through sports, mentorship, and education.

The initiative has quickly gained recognition in Liberia for inspiring parents, coaches, community leaders, and local sports organizations to create safe and supportive environments where young athletes can grow, learn, and develop both on and off the field.

Building on the program’s early success, Kromah has announced plans to launch the next edition of Tribe Stars in Liberia this summer. The program aims to reach 400 young athletes across eight underserved communities throughout the country.

The project focuses on empowering young people through sports training, mentorship, and educational support to help them build confidence and life skills.

Kromah also disclosed that she has been selected as a 2026 Global Research Institute Summer Scholar at the William & Mary Global Research Institute, an opportunity that will help expand the community initiative.

Through the scholarship program, the institute is providing $6,000 in funding toward the project, while an additional $6,000 still needs to be raised to meet the total $12,000 project budget.

Supporters are encouraged to contribute to the initiative through its GoFundMe fundraising campaign and by donating gently used athletic gear. Items needed include soccer cleats, balls, jerseys, shorts, socks, mini goals, pinnies, backpacks, and school supplies to support the young participants.

The initiative also aligns with broader grassroots sports development efforts in Liberia, working alongside institutions such as the Liberia Football Association and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Through Tribe Stars in Liberia, Kromah continues to demonstrate how sports can serve as a powerful tool to empower young people, strengthen communities, and inspire the next generation of athletes in Liberia.
