MONROVIA – As part of ongoing efforts to increase media engagement and public awareness around the Mpox situation in Liberia, the Director General of the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL), Dr. Dougbeh Chris Nyan, addressed the nation Thursday, May 22, 2025, during the MICAT Press Conference.
Dr. Nyan’s announcement regarding the 25 active Mpox cases in Liberia highlights the importance of public health communication during outbreaks.
By assuring the public that there have been no recorded deaths, he aims to alleviate fear while emphasizing the need for vigilance.

In a show of support for the national awareness campaign, one of Liberia’s popular musical icons, JZyNo, paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Nyan later in the evening. JZyNo expressed his commitment to join and amplify the Mpox awareness efforts through his platform and public influence.
