MONROVIA, Liberia — Bushrod Queens FC have made history as the inaugural champions of the Bettomax Champions Cup Women’s Category, defeating Determine Girls FC in a dramatic penalty shootout following a 1–1 draw in regulation time.
The closely contested final was played on August 16, 2026, at the Tusa Field Sports Pitch, with neither side able to find a decisive winner during regulation time.
With the score locked at 1–1, the championship was ultimately decided from the penalty spot, where Bushrod Queens held their nerve to secure victory and lift the first-ever Bettomax Women’s Championship trophy.
The triumph places Bushrod Queens in the competition’s history books as the first-ever women’s champions.

Queens Hold Their Nerve
Determine Girls mounted a strong challenge throughout the final, pushing Bushrod Queens all the way in a tense contest that kept supporters engaged until the final kick.
But when the championship came down to penalties, Bushrod Queens remained composed and converted their opportunities to complete their historic title-winning campaign.
For Determine Girls, the defeat ended a strong tournament run but left the team as worthy finalists after competing strongly for the inaugural championship.
The final also drew significant attention from football supporters, particularly followers of women’s football, as the two clubs battled for the distinction of becoming the first name engraved on the Bettomax Women’s Championship trophy.

Yantey Named Tournament MVP
Bushrod Queens’ celebrations were further boosted by the individual success of midfielder Bendu Yantey, who was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Bettomax Champions Cup Women’s Category.
Yantey was recognized for her outstanding performances and important contributions throughout the competition, adding another major achievement to Bushrod Queens’ historic championship campaign.
As part of the recognition, Yantey received a cash prize of L$100,000 for her performances during the tournament.
Her MVP award underscores the influence she had in midfield and her importance to Bushrod Queens’ successful run to the inaugural title.
