MONROVIA – The Monrovia City Corporation (MCC) has issued a firm directive requiring all residents and business owners to paint their buildings and maintain their premises by December 15, 2025, as part of an ambitious city beautification campaign.
The announcement, issued by MCC’s Department of Press and Public Affairs, cites City Ordinance Number 1, Section 6, which mandates that owners and lessees of residences, commercial buildings, and factories maintain the exterior of their properties with fresh paint annually. The ordinance aims to improve the city’s appearance and instill pride in communities, particularly ahead of the upcoming Christmas season.
In addition to painting, the MCC is calling on occupants of all residential, commercial, religious, and civic buildings to clean the areas surrounding their properties, including sidewalks, trimming hedges and trees, and cutting grass, in line with City Ordinance Number 1, Sections 4 and 5.

To enforce compliance, the MCC has announced the deployment of a special task force across Monrovia, empowered to implement the directive without exceptions. Property owners or occupants who fail to adhere to the rules will face a non-negotiable fine of USD 150.
The city government also warned against erecting makeshift structures, describing the practice as counterproductive to national development efforts. Owners of abandoned vehicles left along city streets are similarly at risk of fines.
MCC officials emphasized that the measures apply to all types of buildings, whether residential, commercial, or public, and underscored the December 15, 2025, deadline as non-negotiable. The initiative forms part of the city’s broader efforts to modernize Monrovia and prepare it for major festivities while fostering a cleaner, more visually appealing urban environment.
