CMC condemns Liberian Government

The Citizens Movement for Change (CMC) has acknowledged receipt of a communication dated October 6, 2025, from the Ministry of Public Works ordering the immediate suspension of the ongoing bridge construction project in Gbarnga, Bong County.

The project, funded by our Political Leader Musa Hassan Bility and initiated by Representative Marvin Cole, was halted by the Ministry for proceeding without formal approval or submission of technical designs, in violation of national infrastructure regulations.

Public Works Minister Roland Giddings stated that no further work should continue until the Ministry reviews and approves the necessary plans and documentation.

In response, the CMC reaffirmed its respect for the laws of Liberia and pledged to remain fully law-abiding as it collaborates with the Ministry of Public Works to address the issue.

“We respect the laws and regulatory processes of our country. The Citizens Movement for Change will work closely with the Ministry of Public Works to ensure that all technical and procedural requirements are met,” the organization said in a statement.

The CMC also assured residents of Bong County that the bridge project will be fully completed once the Ministry’s review is finalized.

“We want to assure the people of Bong County that this project will be executed in full. There is no cause for panic, as discussions are ongoing to finalize the construction plans in compliance with all legal and technical standards,” the statement added. The Citizens Movement for Change reaffirmed its commitment to supporting community-driven development initiatives in accordance with national laws and policies.
