MONROVIA, Liberia โ€” The House of Representatives has ratified and sent to the Senate for concurrence a financing agreement providing additional resources for the Southโ€‘Eastern Corridor Road Asset Management Project (SECRAMP), approving disbursement of US$23 million toward a total US$41 million in needed supplemental financing.

The vote came Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025, after President Joseph Nyuma Boakai requested legislative approval to secure the topโ€‘up for the ongoing road initiative, a pillar of the administrationโ€™s development agenda.

In its report to plenary, the Committee on Ways, Means and Finance said the package will strengthen road infrastructure in the southeast, create jobs, and stimulate economic activity. Members noted employment already generated for expatriate and local workers during construction, skills training to build workforce capacity, and the expectation that postโ€‘construction maintenance will sustain jobs and protect the asset.

Improved connectivity under SECRAMP will expand market access for farmers and industry, the committee said, boosting commerce along the corridor and supporting growth in retail, hospitality, agriculture, and manufacturing. After reviewing Articles Iโ€“VI of the agreement, the committee concluded the financing is โ€œtimely, appropriate, and aligned with Liberiaโ€™s development priorities.โ€ The measure now awaits Senate concurrence.
