REHAB COMMUNITY, PYNESVILLE CITY, Liberia – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr. has praised outgoing German Ambassador Dr. Jakob Haselhuber for his dedicated service and significant contributions to strengthening the longstanding relationship between Liberia and Germany as the veteran diplomat prepares to conclude his tour of duty.
Receiving Ambassador Haselhuber at his Rehab Office on Thursday, President Boakai commended the German envoy for helping deepen bilateral cooperation and further solidify the cordial ties that have long existed between the two countries.
The President also expressed appreciation for Germany’s continued support to Liberia’s national development, particularly in key sectors that have contributed to strengthening governance, institutional capacity, and socio-economic development.

President Boakai noted that relations between Liberia and Germany have continued to flourish during Ambassador Haselhuber’s tenure, describing the current partnership as stronger and more cordial than ever.
He encouraged the outgoing diplomat to remain an advocate for Liberia even after leaving office by continuing to explore new opportunities for cooperation and investment that would further benefit both countries.
“We count on you to continue identifying new areas of mutual benefit that will strengthen the partnership between Liberia and Germany,” the President told the Ambassador.
President Boakai also paid tribute to Germany’s resilience and longstanding commitment to Liberia, recalling the country’s important role in providing technical assistance, professional training, and capacity-building support across several sectors of government.

For his part, Ambassador Haselhuber thanked President Boakai, the Government, and the people of Liberia for the hospitality extended to him throughout his diplomatic service in the country.
The German envoy described his time in Liberia as both rewarding and memorable, expressing appreciation for the close collaboration he enjoyed with government institutions, development partners, and the Liberian people.
Ambassador Haselhuber also informed President Boakai that the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, one of Germany’s leading political foundations, has already commenced work in Liberia and is engaging with the Cabinet and the National Legislature to support governance, democratic development, and institutional strengthening.

Second Diplomatic Mission to Liberia

During his combined years of service, he played a key role in advancing bilateral cooperation in areas including governance, democracy, education, environmental protection, peacebuilding, and sustainable development.

Germany remains one of Liberia’s longstanding development partners, supporting programs in renewable energy, vocational education, environmental conservation, decentralization, public financial management, and democratic governance.
