MONROVIA – The Liberia Football Association has officially appointed Moroccan tactician Mohammed A. Erradi as the new head coach of Liberia’s senior men’s national football team in what football authorities describe as a major step toward rebuilding and strengthening the country’s international football ambitions.

Coach Erradi, a Belgian-Moroccan football manager, has signed a three-year contract with the Liberia Football Association and has been tasked with leading the national team’s campaign toward qualification for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

His appointment reportedly comes on the recommendation of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, reflecting growing football cooperation between Liberia and Morocco.

Football stakeholders say the move is expected to introduce fresh technical expertise, modern tactical philosophy, and renewed discipline within the national team setup as Liberia intensifies preparations for future continental and international competitions.

The newly appointed coach has already arrived in Liberia ahead of officially assuming his duties and beginning engagements with football authorities, players, and other stakeholders within the sport.

The Liberia Football Association is expected to formally unveil Coach Erradi during an official ceremony scheduled for Monday, May 18, 2026, at the LFA Headquarters in Congo Town.

During the event, the federation is expected to outline its broader vision, expectations, and strategic objectives for the national team under Coach Erradi’s leadership.

Football fans and stakeholders across Liberia are expected to closely monitor the beginning of the coach’s tenure, with many expressing optimism that his experience and leadership could help transform the national team and improve Liberia’s chances of returning to major African football competitions.

Liberia has struggled in recent years to consistently qualify for major international tournaments, despite producing globally recognized football talent, including former World Footballer of the Year George Weah.

Observers say Coach Erradi’s appointment signals the Liberia Football Association’s determination to reposition the national team competitively within African football while investing in stronger technical development and long-term football growth.

The appointment also comes shortly after the successful conclusion of the LFA’s 30th Ordinary Congress, where Mustapha I. Raji secured a third and final term as president of the football governing body.

With preparations already underway for upcoming international fixtures and qualification campaigns, expectations are rising among supporters who hope the new coach can guide Liberia back to continental relevance and restore confidence in the national team.
