Liberian female journalists in training

GANTA, NIMBA โ€“ The Multi Stakeholders Forest Governance and Accountability Project (MFGAP) recently conducted a two-day training in Ganta, Nimba County for female journalists from across Liberia.

The training, which is hosted under auspices of the Gender and Social Inclusion component of MFGAP and facilitated by Mrs. Dorothy Tooman, Gender Specialist at MFGAP, brought together 15 female media workers to brainstorm on issues affecting their professional and daily lives and find possible ways that these challenges can be managed for the betterment of their reportage and wellbeing.

The conference was held in order to build their capacity in diverse gender and media-related thematic areas to equip them to properly research, cover, and report major happenings in their communities taking into consideration safety and professionalism during the discharge of their duties and responsibilities.

Giving special remarks at the event, the Regional Coordinator of the Female Journalists Association of Liberia (FeJAL), Miss. Williett Wanyenneh encouraged her colleagues to seriously utilize knowledge gained fully to enhance their professional growth.

Also attending and providing support at this event were representatives of MFGAP core Team, partners and stakeholders including The Liberia Media Center, The Daylight Online, FeJAL and the County Coordinator of the Ministry of Gender Children and Social Protection (MGCSP) Nimba County Madam Yaah Belleh Suah.

The Multi Stakeholders Forest Governance and Accountability Project has been working with Forest Stakeholders and the Liberian Media to ensure proper forest management and full compliance with forest related regulations including the VPA since 2019. The training conference ended on Thursday, May 22, 2025.
