MONROVIA — The Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) has been recognized as one of the country’s top-performing public institutions, receiving the prestigious 2025 Performance Excellence Award from President Joseph Nyuma Boakai.
The award, presented on April 20, 2026, forms part of the government’s Performance Management and Compliance System (PMCS), a flagship reform initiative aimed at promoting accountability, efficiency, and results-driven governance across public institutions.
According to the citation, the Central Bank was honored “in recognition of [its] outstanding commitment to achieving performance targets” under the 2025 PMCS cycle—an acknowledgment of the institution’s sustained efforts in strengthening monetary policy implementation, financial sector stability, and institutional governance.

The recognition places the CBL among an elite group of government entities demonstrating excellence in service delivery, strategic planning, and operational efficiency. The Bank’s performance reflects its ongoing reforms geared toward maintaining macroeconomic stability, enhancing regulatory oversight, and improving public confidence in Liberia’s financial system.
Speaking during the ceremony, President Boakai emphasized that such awards are intended to reinforce a culture of accountability and measurable results within government. He noted that institutions like the Central Bank are setting the standard for performance and transparency in public service.

For the Central Bank, the award underscores its critical role in advancing Liberia’s economic agenda, particularly at a time when the government is prioritizing fiscal discipline, financial inclusion, and sustainable growth.
Observers say the recognition is also a testament to the leadership and technical teams at the Bank, whose work continues to anchor economic policy and safeguard the integrity of Liberia’s banking sector.
As the PMCS framework continues to evolve—with increased digital monitoring and citizen feedback mechanisms—the Central Bank’s achievement signals its readiness to remain at the forefront of institutional performance and public sector excellence.
