MONROVIA — The Liberia National Police (LNP) has formally charged a 27-year-old man, Thomas S. Lahun, with manslaughter and negligent homicide in connection with the death of a woman whose body was reportedly discovered at a residence in the Gaye Town community on Old Road, Sinkor.
Police identified the deceased as Annette Suah, a businesswoman and resident of the New Matadi Estate community.
According to police investigators, Lahun and the deceased allegedly spent the early morning hours of Thursday, April 23, 2026, together at an entertainment center identified as Perry’s Bar on Cheeseman Avenue, where they reportedly consumed alcoholic beverages and smoked shisha.
Investigators alleged that after leaving the entertainment center, the pair proceeded to the residence of Lahun’s father in Gaye Town, where they allegedly remained together inside a one-bedroom apartment for several hours.
Police stated that later that day, Suah reportedly entered the bathroom to shower while Lahun remained in the sitting area using his cellphone.
According to investigators, after noticing an unusual period of silence, the defendant allegedly went to check on the woman and reportedly found her lying unconscious inside a bathtub with foam around her mouth.
Authorities claimed that although the defendant allegedly attempted to revive the victim, he failed to immediately seek medical assistance or alert nearby residents.
Police further alleged that the suspect later concealed the woman’s body beneath a bed after becoming frightened upon noticing his father’s return home.
The matter reportedly came to light after Emmanuel S. Lahun, father of the accused, entered the room and detected what investigators described as a strong odor coming from the apartment. Upon searching the room, he allegedly discovered the body and informed a nearby resident before the incident was reported to police.
The Liberia National Police subsequently launched an investigation that led to the arrest of Thomas S. Lahun on April 24, 2026.
Investigators concluded that the suspect acted negligently by allegedly failing to obtain emergency medical treatment for the victim and by reportedly concealing the body rather than immediately notifying authorities.
Thomas S. Lahun has since been forwarded to court for prosecution under Liberia’s revised penal law.
Police say investigations into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death remain ongoing.
