MONROVIA – In a developing story, two police officers have been placed on administrative leave following a shocking incident caught on tape. They are seen, during the demolition of the Congress for Democratic Change Party (CDC) headquarters, taking items that did not belong to them and trying to stuff them into jackets.

Deputy Police Inspector General for Operations, Cllr.  Nelson Freeman addressed the media shortly the video made rounds on the Internet, confirming the ongoing investigation and the circumstances that led to the officers’ being disrobed and suspended.

According to Inspector Freeman, the incident occurred during a routine operation where the police were present to support court’s sheriffs effect an eviction of the property that CDC occupied for 20 years.

“This is a court order, and we are just here to support the sheriff. Our role is to ensure safety and avoid any potential confrontation,” Freeman explained.

He emphasized that the police’s presence was to uphold the justice system and maintain peace during the sheriff’s operations.

The video footage has raised significant concerns within the community, as it appears to show the officers trying to stuff unidentified objects into their vests and pockets.

 “These officers have been disrobed for actions that seem to be contrary to our code of conduct. They have been forwarded to our professional standards division for thorough investigation.”
