
MONROVIA — President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has lauded the Ministry of Youth and Sports Liberia for what he described as an outstanding performance in 2025, highlighting the institution’s role in advancing youth empowerment and sports development across the country.
The commendation came during the Presidential Performance Contract Signing and Recognition Ceremony held at the EJS Ministerial Complex, where top-performing government institutions were honored based on their results under the national Performance Management and Compliance System (PMCS).
The Ministry received recognition for its achievements under the leadership of former Minister Jeror Cole Bangalu, whose tenure recorded strong performance across multiple indicators.
According to the official assessment report, the Ministry achieved top scores in several key areas, including Resource Mobilization (10/10), System Efficiency (5/5), Institutional Capacity Building (10/10), and the Managerial Indicator Matrix (10/10)—reflecting high levels of operational effectiveness and institutional discipline.
The report also noted that the Ministry significantly exceeded its revenue generation target, achieving an impressive 267 percent performance rate, far above expectations. Senior management coordination was equally strong, with the Ministry scoring a perfect 30 out of 30 for management meetings and internal oversight.
In terms of service delivery, the Ministry recorded an average compliance rate of 98 percent across seven performance indicators, underscoring its consistency in meeting program objectives. Its performance in strategic planning and implementation was also rated highly, scoring 42.83 out of 50.
Receiving the award on behalf of the Ministry, Deputy Minister for Administration Henry B. Yonton Jr. expressed appreciation to President Boakai for the recognition and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to sustained performance.
He pledged that the Ministry would build on its achievements to further expand opportunities for young people and strengthen sports development nationwide.
The recognition underscores the Ministry’s growing role within the government’s broader reform agenda, as Liberia intensifies efforts to improve public sector performance, accountability, and service delivery.
