MONROVIA – What was supposed to be a high-profile meeting in the 2026 Finalissima has transformed into an even bigger football spectacle.
The Finalissima, which was originally scheduled for March 27, 2026, at Lusail Stadium in Doha, Qatar, was cancelled because of the ongoing conflict and security concerns in the Middle East.
The match was set to pit 2022 FIFA World Cup champions Argentina against UEFA Euro 2024 winners Spain in the traditional contest between the champions of South America and Europe.

Instead, football fans around the world will now witness the two global powerhouses clash on the sport’s biggest stage after both nations advanced to the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final.
Argentina and Spain are now set to battle for football’s ultimate prize on Sunday, July 19, in what promises to be one of the most anticipated World Cup finals in recent history.
What began as a cancelled intercontinental showdown has, through an unexpected twist of fate, become a contest for the most coveted trophy in world football. The Liberian Post will be live on the stadium.
